Information on Program

Program History

Oak Forest is the third largest subdivision in Harris County!

There are 5,526+ homes, 18 sections, and over 24,000 residents!

The OFHA Community Patrol Program began 10 years ago after neighbors became concerned about the increase in crime in Houston. A group of volunteers began the process of interviewing security companies and law enforcement agencies to determine the one best suited for Oak Forest. S.E.A.L. Security was chosen because of their proven record providing coverage to other Houston communities of similar size. S.E.A.L. also provides members with additional benefits like Vacation Watch, dedicated dispatch numbers, highly trained officers, and consistently patrol during contracted hours. S.E.A.L. Security also allows Oak Forest to contract more hours per day more affordably and substitution of officers when others are not available.

OFHA Community Patrol Program continues to adapt to a changing Oak Forest. As of January 2025, only 13% of Oak Forest Residents participate in the Community Patrol Program. That affords one officer on a 12 hours shift. The shifts vary as to not be predictable and still provide the community and members with all the benefits while working. In 2025, we want to expand participation to allow for additional officers and cover 24 hours across the sections.
